Always be growing

It’s never too late.

It’s ok to be late to thinking and growing into a new and better version of you. The point is that you are here now and taking compounding steps toward feeding your personal powerpack. I just finished a good book by an award-winning journalist Gwendolyn Bounds, telling the inspiring story of her unlikely midlife journey to master the daunting sport of obstacle course racing. It’s a powerful, science-based account of the change possible at any age when we push limits. Her book Not Too Late was my running read this winter. It took a lot longer to get through, a result of some really cold Illinois winter days along and a weeklong break to recover from falling down my stairs that got in my way of my training thus far this year, but I finished it today. Growing is a journey, like training for a sport. It takes a plan. It takes repetition. It sometimes takes equipment (the content you consume). Use action steps and commitment to progress. As you do, set up KPIs or finish lines throughout to assess your progress and take stock on how your training is benefitting you. Channel learning into your heart’s desire. We have unlimited resources today. Not Too Late is a great example of someone making the most of their midlife learning to fuel the second half of their life. As the saying goes….” The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today.” GTBG
